Today’s Budget, delivered by Conservative Chancellor Philip Hammond, has announced Libor grants for Scottish charities.

In total, Scottish charities will reap the rewards of more than £3.3 million pounds.

This includes local charity South West Scotland RnR, which is based in the heart of Dumfries and Galloway.

RnR has been awarded £135,000 from the Treasury to provide training for Veterans in the Transport Sector.

Commenting, Galloway and West Dumfries MSP Finlay Carson said:

“I am delighted to hear that RnR will receive a substantial grant from the Chancellor’s Budget today.

“It is great to see that the Chancellor appreciates and is rewarding the work of RnR – which will provide training and accommodation to veterans looking to return to work.

“With a shortage of around 60,000 lorry drivers nationally, RnR’s work is crucial to both veterans’ wellbeing and the economy.

“Last week in a Scottish Parliament debate on Veterans in Scotland, I highlighted the crucial work RnR carries out in Dumfries and Galloway and I am grateful for the service provided by RnR.”
