The 2018 Less Favoured Areas Support Scheme (LFASS) budget will match the 2017 scheme.
Until the recent decision by the European Commission on 12th December 2017, CAP regulations required LFASS to change in 2018.
This would have meant a reduced LFASS parachute payment of 80% but will now be deferred by a year until 2019.
Following the EU decision, the Scottish Government have agreed to fulfil LFASS payments at 100% for 2018.
Commenting, Galloway and West Dumfries MSP Finlay Carson said:
“A decision made in Europe has allowed the Scottish Government to rethink the timescale for changes to the LFASS scheme.
“I welcome any funding to our farmers in my constituency of Galloway and West Dumfries.
“However, this is not the good news story the SNP would have us believe.
“This SNP Government must not be allowed to pull the wool – funding is clearly given with one hand, whilst being removed from other agricultural budgets.”
